The warranting of rapier marshals is governed by Section V(C) of the East Kingdom Rapier Rules, and marshals' warrants are issued by the Regional Marshal of the region in which a fencer resides. Fencers interested in becoming marshals should familiarize themselves with the East Kingdom Rapier Rules, and then contact their Regional Marshal for instructions and information on how to become a Marshal in Training.

The following are proposals for Marshal in Training programs. These documents are not rules or requirements for MiTs, but rather are offered here as advice to those interested in becoming an MiT, or supervising an MiT program. When she served as Northern Regional Marshal, Mistress Brita Mairi Svensdottir wrote this marshal training program. It has been updated to reflect recent changes to the East Kingdom and Society rules, but is otherwise unchanged. Mistress Alys Mackyntosh offers this list of eight steps on the path towards becoming a marshal. Doña Marion Del Oakes and Lady Katryne Blak prepared this proposal, which will serve as the basis for a marshal training program within the Southern Region beginning in 2008.
